Stereotypes

How is it that stereotypes work?
How is it possible to generalize an entire group of people with a single
word?
When all variables are taken into account,
It becomes impossible to summarize a person,
In a single word.
Peoples minds and emotions are so deep,
That another will never be able to understand them,
Despite how much time is spent with that person.
However,
We, by nature, still use stereotypes and generalization.
Why?
Because in all reality no one really cares for those he does not know.
People don't stereotype the ones who are close to them.
But do their peers.
People stereotype because it gives them a reason not to get to know
another.
There is always more beneath the surface.
Yet we fail to see it,
Blinded by our own lack of compassion for others.
Stereotyping gives people a reason not to get involved in the life of a
stranger.
Will they ever stop?
The odds are slim.
Are they ways to improve upon this inhumane habit?
Of course.
